Surface treatments
In order to maintain and protect surfaces against water and, in
general, against the aggression of atmospheric agents.

Water is one of the main causes for structure degradation.
Water is a vehicle for salts which deposit on the external surface
and which are visible as efflorescences, seaweeds, fungi, ect…not
easy to eliminate.
Other than soluble salts, water also transports acid substances
which attack the structure and corrode the surface.
During winter, when the temperature goes below 0°C the water
which is present in the capillaries of mortars, stones and bricks,
freezes increasing its volume to decrease later when the temperature
rises. These cycles of frost and defrost damage the structure
year after year.
Finally it’s good to know that when water is absorbed by
the structure, a noticeable decrease in the thermal isolation
occurs.
Thus it is important to eliminate both humidity and water, letting
the surface of the structure transpire, in order to protect and
maintain structures with time.
